The Republic of Indonesia is the world's largest island state consisting of an archipelago of  more than 13,000 islands spread between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific to the north of Australia.  It is the worlds 4th  most populous country and has long been a centre of trade and commerce in the South East Asian region.  Despite the pressure on land for housing and agriculture there are still a number of wild places found throughout Indonesia and each of these with their own distinctive flora and fauna are worth visiting.

Papua  with its   rainforest clad mountains and Birds of Paradise is largely undeveloped as is the bird rich island of Flores. Bali, often thought of as a party island is home to Indonesia's largest National Park  where Bali and Black-winged Starlings and Javan Banded Pitta can be found. The islands of Komodo and Rinca are home to the earths largest lizard- the Komodo Dragon  and rhinos can still be seen in Sumatra.
